I placed a deposit on the donor car for the Audi B4 for the 2011 Targa Newfoundland race. In an effort to stay out of Open class I had to find an engine that was originally supplied with this chassis. While the European market received a very large variety of engines, in North America Audi brought a very limited choice. As I am replacing the 2.0 4cyl engine (approx. 90hp) I wanted a platform that will give me lots of power stock with plenty of room for upgrades. The 2.2L 5cyl turbocharged engine has earned a reputation as one of Audi’s strongest engines built to date. Paired up with a quattro drivetrain this engine has proved itself time after time on the race track. For the 2011 race, the engine will be paired up with a simpler FWD drivetrain for the class purposes, however I am anticipating a quattro swap in the B4 for 2012.

Here is a video of the donor car. It is an Audi S4 with the AAN engine. The car was recently in a collision, however the engine is in a great condition.
